Artists Bio

Hendrix Hamalainen is a a trumpet player, improviser and composer based in Naarm (Melbourne), whose work encompasses jazz, free improvisation and new music. Hendrix’s is an active composer, band leader and performer throughout Australia. He is interested in the intersections between freedom and structure in music and seeks to find new platforms for expression that reflect the current world we occupy, and expand our thinking.

As a band leader and composer, Hendrix has released a full-length Album “OPERATION:” (2025). As a Trumpet player, Hendrix has worked with internationally acclaimed artists such as Danilo Perez and Melissa Aldana. Hendrix has also received tuition from musicians such as Kris Davis, Taylor Ho Bynum, Angelica Sanchez, Adam O’farril, Scott Tinkler and more. He has most recently completed is Bachelor of Music and at Melbourne university.
